Gabriele Pignotta is one of the most productive and successful contemporary Italian playwrights. Highly regarded and esteemed as both an actor and director, his comedies have garnered an impressive number of sold-out shows and box-office records in major Italian theatres, including Il Sistina in Rome, L’Alfieri in Turin, Il Manzoni in Milan, and Il Verdi in Florence.
Widely acclaimed by the press (GQ magazine defined his latest comedy as “the best comedy of the last ten years”), his performances have attracted nearly a million spectators and are now beginning to be translated abroad.
In his theatrical career, Gabriele Pignotta has written, directed, and performed in ten plays, directing and acting alongside top-tier Italian stars such as Vanessa Incontrada, Lorella Cuccarini, and Giorgio Panariello.

A Journey as Director, Screenwriter, and Actor. In the world of film and television, Gabriele Pignotta’s path is driven by the desire to tell stories in every possible form. He has directed and written five feature films, including Ti sposo ma non troppo and Toilet, the big-screen adaptation of his eponymous theatrical hit.
As a screenwriter, he has received prestigious awards, including the Biglietto d’Oro for Carlo Verdone’s Sotto una buona stella. His cinematic production extends beyond comedy: with Ötzi and the Mystery of Time, awarded at the 2018 Giffoni Film Festival, he has shown an interest in diverse genres and audiences.
He has also directed four short films, seven commercials, and a documentary, alternating between directing and acting.
In the television field, he debuted as a writer for major Italian TV stars, including Raffaella Carrà and Pippo Baudo, and subsequently wrote and hosted four social shows for leading national networks.
Every project and collaboration – with artists such as Claudia Gerini, Ambra Angiolini, and Vanessa Incontrada – has helped define his style, which blends humor with a sensitivity for contemporary storytelling.
With the short film Un’altra storia, dedicated to the fight against violence against women, he won the Nastro d’Argento, confirming how art can also be a vehicle for awareness and social commitment.

Social Media formats
In September 2025, Gabriele Pignotta decided to test his creativity on social media by creating a tailor-made format: the spinoff of his theatrical and cinematic project TOILET. This led to the birth of “TOILET the social series,” which has achieved significant success across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube.
